It wasn't until later in his journey that Jonathan had another thought. Perhaps the animal wasn't local to this forest or region. A puppy would be out of place here, but at least it would be less surprising. If it wasn't native, how did it end up here? Again, the only logical explanation was human intervention. The forest, usually a sanctuary, now held secrets that would challenge Jonathan's understanding of wildlife and reveal a mystery far beyond a simple rescue mission.
